Shapes & Colors Collaboration

1,000.00

A collaboration with Portland, Maine artist, Jenny Dougherty.

We discussed a design that I could translate to fabric using naturally hand dyed fabric. I appliquéd the shapes by hand using my naturally dyed fabric from the following dye sources: logwood, fustic wood, indigo, black walnuts, avocado pits, queen anne's lace, a 5 step process for natural black and iron as a color modifier.

The back is made up of osage orange, I foraged for here in Baltimore for that buttery yellow alongside a peach and orange from over dyeing fustic with madder root giving a warm sunset feeling.

Hand quilted with black Sashiko thread and bound with natural Kona cotton.

50 hours in handwork from the naturally dyed fabric to the appliquéd shapes, and hand quilting. This blanket can fit a twin bed nicely, hung on a wall or thrown over a sofa to cherish up close.
